Why aren't my clients receiving text reminders?

If some of your clients are not receiving text message (SMS) reminders for their appointments or classes, please check the following: 

1. Exceeded text messaging monthly cap

   You may have exceeded your text messaging monthly cap. To fix this, see here. 

2. Check if their phone number is tagged "Mobile"

   Follow these steps to ensure the client's phone # is tagged as "mobile" in Bookedin. Tagging a phone number as "mobile" activates text reminders for the specific client. This works for either "primary phone" or "alternate phone". If no number is tagged as "mobile", no texts will get sent to that client. 

3. Check for typos

   It happens to the best of us! You or your client or your team might have typed in the phone number wrong. Go to the "Clients" section, then check all phone numbers listed for the client who is having the issue.

4. Check your clients' location

   At this time cross-border text message reminders are not available on Bookedin. For example, if your business is located in Canada and your client has a USA-based phone number, the text reminder cannot be delivered. Cross-border clients will only receive email confirmations & reminders.

5. If your client uses an Apple iPhone, ask them to check their "Unknown Senders" and "Spam" folder

   As of September 2025, Apple iPhones have a new text message filtering feature. Text reminders from Bookedin can end up in the "Unknown Senders" folder or "Spam" folder. Learn how to fix this issue.

6. Ask your client if they opted out

   Your client may have accidentally opted out of the Bookedin text message reminders. 

   If they replied STOP, UNSUBSCRIBE, END, or QUIT to any previous Bookedin text message, they will no longer receive any text messages from Bookedin.

   To opt back in, tell your clients to text the word "START" to the following number(s) and they'll get automatically resubscribed.
