Switch to Bookedin from Square

Getting your data out of Square takes about five minutes. Here's exactly what to export and where to send it.

What you'll need

  • An active Bookedin account. Don't have one yet? Start your free trial.
  • Access to your Square account (owner or admin level).
  • Your export files saved in CSV or Excel format.

Follow these steps

Step 1: Export your client list from Square

  1. Log in to your Square account at squareup.com.
  2. In the left menu, click Customers.
  3. Click Directory.
  4. Click Import/Export to expand the menu.
  5. Select Export Customers.
  6. Select All Customers.
  7. Click Export to build the report.
  8. Click Download to save the file to your device.

Step 2: Export your services from Square

Square doesn't have a standard self-serve export for services. Contact Square customer support and ask them to export your item or service library. Request the file in CSV or Excel format.

Note: If Square isn't able to provide a services export, include your Square booking page URL in your email to Bookedin (see Step 5) and our team will pull your service information from there.

Step 3: Export your booking history from Square

  1. In your Square account, click Appointments in the left menu.
  2. Click Settings.
  3. Click the History tab.
  4. Click Export in the top-right corner.
  5. Save the file to your device.

Step 4: Export your staff members from Square

Square doesn't have a bulk export for staff members. Instead, include the following information for each team member directly in the email you send to Bookedin (see Step 5):

  • Full name
  • Email address

Step 5: Send your files to Bookedin

Email your exported files to support@bookedin.com from the email address associated with your Bookedin account. Include any staff member details in the body of the email.

Our team will take it from there and follow up within approximately 1–2 business days if they have any questions.

Tip: While you wait, set your calendars to private so no new online bookings come in during the transition. Also disable reminders and follow-up emails to avoid clients receiving duplicates. See Import your data from another provider for step-by-step instructions.

You're all set. Once you hear back from our team confirming the import is complete, you can go live and start taking bookings.
