How do I set up Apple app-specific passwords?
To use the calendar sync with your Apple calendar, you need to create a special "app-specific password" inside of your Apple account.
Before you start:
This setup must be done using a tablet or a computer. The initial sync can't be set up using the Bookedin mobile app.
Sync iCal & Bookedin with an app-specific password
- Sign in to your Apple account here: https://appleid.apple.com
- In the Account Security section, make sure you've turned on two-factor authentication (most people have this on by default). This is required to use the iCloud-Bookedin sync.
- In the Sign in & Security section, click App-Specific Passwords
- Click "Generate an app-specific password"
- Type "Bookedin" to give a name for your app-specific password, then click "Create"
- Copy the password. In the next step you're going to paste this into Bookedin.
- Open a new browser tab and log in to your Bookedin business account: https://scheduler.bookedin.com
- In the top menu, go to Settings > Calendar Sync
- Click "Add New Calendar Sync"
- On the sync setup screen, choose the iCloud option
- Now enter your email address (the one you use to log in to Apple) and then paste the app-specific password you created in step 6 above.
- Check the terms of service box & then click Link Apple Account.
- You'll be automatically taken back to Bookedin to finish one last step: Choose which apple calendar to sync (if you have multiple) and your sync direction. Then click Start Sync.
- You're done! Now your Apple calendar will sync automatically with your Bookedin calendar.
